Vanity of the Onion

Greetings, Now that all the audits for my non-profit clients are complete and before I go into summer camp mode, I wanted to update y'all on what I've been working on. First a recent drawing:

I never knew an onion could be so vain. This particular onion stared at her self-portrait the rest of the night. This was my second attempt at onion and it turned out better than my first attempt. I won't show you the first attempt in oil pastels.

The main thing coming out of the studio though is books, books, books, and more books. Making books checks a lot of my creative boxes. There's too many to share, but I present the last four.

Each book shown here is 192 pages, measures 8 1/2" x 7", and are case-bound. I'm enjoying exploring different papers. The top two are an unidentified hard paper that Michael Lownie handed to me in a moment of de-stash. The bottom two are rice paper that I embellished. The rice paper required more care so I treated it like I would fabric and stabilized the paper before gluing it to hard board.

Next posts will likely be after my first class of the summer coming in 4 weeks. Yikes - I'd better get ready.

cheers
