For my birthday this year, my stepmother gifted me a box of practice gourds from Welburn gourd farm. http://www.welburngourdfarm.com/ I was expecting a small box of broken pieces. I was surprised when UPS dropped off a 3 foot box full of practice gourds. There are 26 pieces in all in this box some were pieces and some were whole gourds. One of the smaller, whole gourds said "I'm for Lisa." Yesterday, I got the chance to try pyrography and painting on it. The gourd taught me many things about how to wood burn on a bumpy substrate and which paints look best.
I believe that the first one you make needs to be given away or you won't get the chance to make another. For Lisa's birthday, she's getting this one.
