Upcoming classes + block printing

Greetings, It's been a month since I've posted anything. Mainly because I've been getting some new projects ready for my summer teaching schedule. My first week is teaching the 10-14 year old folks design and sew techniques. This year I came up with a fun hex hat pattern (a la the 1970s) for them to try this year. I also treat this class as an open sewing lab for those who already have their own ideas. I'll try to take pictures this year as it's a billion years of fun packed into one week.

BUT, yesterday, I treated myself to a block printing class at Handcraft Studio School in El Cerrito - http://handcraftstudioschool.com/ This is one of the best, most unpretentious places I have ever taken a class. The space was set up beautifully with everything we could need at hand. I just learned about this place and want to spread the word about it. It's about a mile north of the El Cerrito Plaza BART station. Took me about 15 minutes to walk up there. AND, it's across the street from El Cerrito Natural Grocery.

The class was taught by Jen Hewitt: http://jenhewett.com/. She's a fantastically, generous teacher and supremely well organized. I learned at least one million new + valuable things from her and I was only in the class for about 4 hours.

Here's the exciting part though - I carved a buffalo stamp and printing on fabric with it. Oh yes, I did. Check it out. Here's the close-up - of course in purple + orange.

The whole piece is maybe a yard long by by 20" wide. We'll see what else I do to it and what I make out of it.
